Lenovo: The foldable ThinkPad X1 will be launched in 2020

At last week's Canalys Channels forum, Lenovo finally revealed the release schedule for its collapsible ThinkPad X1 hybrid laptop, which was first released in May. The company said that from a hardware perspective, the machine is ready, but it needs its software partners to perfect its program for the innovation department.
Lenovo's collapsible ThinkPad X1 features a 13.3-inch OLED display with "2K" resolution that can be folded in half to fit in a small bag. Hybrid notebooks can be used in tablet, book and clamshell modes for different purposes. It can also be connected to a stand or docking station to handle the amount of work required for a mechanical keyboard and mouse. The collapsible ThinkPad X1 is compatible with a variety of software applications, using undisclosed Intel processors and Microsoft's Windows operating system.
Milan Global Network and Brand Director Milanka Muecke describes the collapsible ThinkPad X1 device as a full-featured PC that can be placed in the palm of your hand:
"I am here, you can put it in your wallet. It looks like a leather notebook that you can carry with you all day, but it's a full-featured PC that fits in your palm. ”
Lenovo is now expected to deliver its collapsible ThinkPad in the second quarter of 2020. It is unclear when it will be open from April to June (note that June is Computex). Gianfrano Lanci, Lenovo's chief operating officer, said that from a hardware perspective, the product is a good product, but the software still needs to be fixed:
"It will start shipping in the second quarter of next year. [...] The hardware is ready, but we still need to fix some issues from a software perspective, and this is not 100% dependent on us."
Lenovo's top executives don't think the foldable ThinkPad X1 will immediately become a bestseller (possibly due to price and other factors), but as a new form factor, it will allow Lenovo to enter emerging markets. One of the obvious segments of the foldable ThinkPad X1 will be the high-performance tablet, such as Apple's iPad Pro. At the same time, Lenovo will release its devices a few months before Microsoft launched the dual-screen Surface Neo for the same market segment.
